In consequence of the release of the three Chinese Prisoners, and consistently with his promise, the Chinese Commissioner has caused the head and hand of the late unfortunate Governor to be delivered to the Portuguese authorities. The head and hand were brought from Boca Branca in a fast-boat which anchored opposite to the Governor's Residence on the 16th. Instantly, the head and hand having been identified were placed in the charge of some Portuguese officials who carried them to the Government House, where the body of the deceased still lies in state. I have not yet received any official intimation of the delivery of the remains, either from the Council of Macao or from the Imperial Commissioner.

By the last mail, which left England in November, five Portuguese officers, Lieutenant-Colonel D'Almeida, Major Cunha of the Artillery, and ... of the Engineers arrived here en route for Macao: the former, it is said, is to assume the command of the troops at that settlement, and the latter to take charge of the Fortifications, but with what ulterior object I have not been able to ascertain.
